Soup Kitchen

Michelle Obama was volunteering at a soup kitchen a few blocks from the White House last week. An article in the newspaper featured a photo of a soup kitchen patron taking a photo of Mrs Obama. He was taking the photo with his mobile phone.

That's right...how does someone getting their food from a soup kitchen afford a mobile phone? With a camera in it?

Am I the only person in the world who thinks there is something wrong with this picture?

No. You're not the only one.
I routinely wait on people at the store who are talking or texting on a cell phone while paying for their groceries with Food Stamps.
My tax dollars at work.

Perhaps he found it in the dumpster, or borrowed it from one or the workers.

you know soup kitchens are not only frequented by those who are homeless and jobless with the economy the way it is even those with a decent job are finding it hard to make ends meat and those on a fixed income sometimes need a little assistance.... everyone needs a phone .. if you are trying to find a job or just keeping in touch with families.. prepaid phones and companies like metro make it possible for even those who need assistance once in awhile to still make sure they are reachable. I see nothing wrong with that... in this recession if you have a job to pay taxes on .. you are blessed... I thank God that I have and if I could give more to those who need it I would..
