Break Down

We had an off the scale busy weekend.

Friday evening was the Old Windsor Donkey Derby.

Saturday I dropped Abigail off at Football Camp. Marc went to help build the Beaver Scout float (theme Lapland - don't ask!). I sewed Sebastian's elf shoes and hat. I picked Abigail up at Fottball Camp. Marc dropped me off at the Scout Burger stall at the Old Windsor Carnival where I served up hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, and chips ( US= french fries) for 2 hours despite it being the last day of my diet. He then dropped Sebastian (aka Elf) at the float before the start of the parade. When my shift was over we ran across the village green to catch the end of the parade and saw my little elf.

On Sunday morning I went to my last diet group meeting and came home to pick up the family to take a quick trip into London. We had thousands of things to do as we headed home when the car stalled at a busy intersection in Central London. We waited for nearly 5 hours for the recovery truck to show up to tow our car and transport us home by which time it was far too late to do even 1 of the thousand things.

Boy was I glad just to be home!

PS: See the sick car behind us on the tow!!

Mobile Tyre Fitting Specialist

If you are not in the UK, please disregard this post.

If you are in the UK, boy, have I got a deal for you!

I don't often recommend services using my blog. I even feel a wee bit uncomfortable recommending local restaurants. But I think if you have found something that is great service for a great price that everyone needs, well, I might as well share the wealth!

If you are looking for a mobile tyre fitting specialist, look no further!

This guy came to our home and replaced all the tyres on our BMW for a VERY reasonable price quickly and efficiently. It don't get much better than that!

Call him on 07790 885 492. You will NOT regret it!

PS I have not been compensated for this in anyway!

New Cars (Again)

Veda, Marc's mum, bought a new car back in December after crashing hers in Southampton. She didn't like the new car very much after owning it for a while. It had a couple problems and she just went off it. Marc spent quite a bit of time over the last couple of weeks hunting down a new car for her. And this is what he's found. She came up yesterday to pick it up and will drive it home this morning.

All this new car hunting got Marc a bit motivated to rid our family of the gas guzzling adolescent attack of a car that he owned for the last couple years. The gas mileage was atrocious. It was uncomfortable to sit in (although you did look good sitting in it)! The children hated sitting in the back of the convertible with the top down. You begin to ask yourself, what's the point of having a convertible if you never put the top down? There was no place to put the dog. And no place to put groceries. This was a wholly inappropriate purchase of a family man. I think he has outgrown this as evidenced by his very reasonable purchase of the diesel estate. The boot is big enough to live in should the need ever arise.....like when he decides to buy a new car.
We now have a very grown up, very sensible, dog friendly, child friendly, holiday & IKEA friendly automobile. Ta Da!

Granny's Got a Brand New Car

Not exactly brand new but what a bargain this is. It looks a wee bit like a little hot rod (if you close one eye, squint, and stand on our head). It's a Rover of some sort......
They bought the car at a car warehouse (CarGiant) in North London just a few blocks from where the tornado hit London yesterday. The pictures of the damage are astonishing. Check them out at http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_pictures/6217898.stm

Luckily, here in the Windsor area we only had monsoon rains and gale winds. No property damage unless you count my honeysuckle trellis at the bottom of the garden.
